Photography light study… of sorts…
As a photographer, you’ve gotta challenge yourself at times to stay on your A-game. One of the ways to do that is to look at other photographer’s techniques and mimic them. Then you get to learn some nifty tricks about lighting. I didn’t nail these perfectly but then again when you’re using a magazine cover as a gobo and a magazine subscription card as a snoot, you can’t expect perfection lol. I tried though.

- Tom Hanks by a famous photographer

My brother as tom hanks lol
Yeah, the different colored jackets is one of those small details that I just went with because of what was available lol. The light isn’t QUITE as concentrated on the face as I shot it but my space to shoot in was extremely limited so I couldn’t move my main snooted light back any further. The background light is a single SB600 pointed at the back wall. Both flashes were triggered with cheapo RF602s from china
This second light study was from a strobist posting…

- Original strobist post…
Looking at this one in retrospect, I really missed it lol. I’ll try it again later lol.

Close but meh lol
Enjoy!!
SV Mod meet at the batcave…
Yessir, as one of my hobbies overlaps another, there is an inevitable set of pictures created.
Photography + Motorcycling = my most recent set of pictures.
Here are a couple pictures from that set.
The whole set can be found HERE.

Brad's bike and car

DANG! Omari drove from NYC to make this meet!!

I finally put my new chain/sprocket on... by myself

Yeah, we drink oil

Sometimes we actually do work lol

Fixing the neighbor's garbage lol

Super stock looking picture of an aftermarket sprocket and a stocker

Even changed a tire without anyone getting hurt lol

Go time

Heading five hours back to NYC!
Overall it was a productive meet. A lot of hot dogs and brauts were eaten. Maybe even some of the kids mac-n-cheese lol. Good times
This is half of what motorcycling is all about. If you own a bike and never work on it, I IMPLORE you to take your hand to a wrench. It’s rewarding like nothing else
A few more from church last night…
I’m super depressed on how much noise my camera made @ 1600 ISO. I mean, I know the D90 isn’ t the D3 but seriously… I’m saddened just a bit. Here are a couple more shots from the worship night…

Enjoying what you see? Comment below or retweet this junk!
LiT Drama Team Drama (redundant? lol)
So here is a set of pictures that pretty much speak for themselves. The drama team for the youth group at church had a great performance this morning. I posted these pictures in color on my flickr but like them much more in black and white. Enjoy

If you didn’t get the pictures, just ask me about ‘em and it’s super easy to explain
Goodnight all xD
Eeek, two more strange pictures… of a strange vehicle
Alrighty, I still haven’t finished processing the pictures from LiT olympics yet (see last post) so again, to hold any anxious readers over, let me introduce my buddy Craig. I’ve known Craig for years and he’s actually visiting from Florida this week. We stopped by his cousin’s house this weekend to check out his $3700 government surplus purchase. What in the world would a 21 year old redneck young man purchase from the government for that price?
THIS:

I haven’t had a chance to ask him what model the truck is but I’ll be sure to get all the details when I get a ride!

Oh look, the fifth wheel to pull behind it!
Hopefully I’ll have plenty of time this monday to get the LiT Olympics pics done so the source of the carnage in the last post can be explained.
Goodnight all!
I have a TON of pics from this weekend…
BUT I can’t process them all right now so here’s a graphic teaser from a youth even gone wrong…

Ironically the shirt print reads "I got out of bed for THIS?"

Ouch, doc said you could fit a baby carot in there...
Thirteen stitches later and I have video and a great story to go along with it all…. *stay tuned*
Pulled the trigger on a new lens…
Transcript of the above video:
So in celebration of my 29th year of life on this wonderful third rock from that blazing ball of helium in the sky, I pulled the trigger on a new lens.
WHOOO DOGGY is she a PERTY lens!!!
/redneck accent
That’s right… via UPS right now there is a Nikon 24-70 f/2.8 AF-S/G/ED/N lens on the way to my hands!! Two pounds of professional goodness all waiting to unlock the range of photos that I usually capture via “foot zoom”.
CAN YOU TELL I’M EXCITED!!!!
My next two posts will feature a few blogs and photographers that I respect heavily
