Goodbye to a good friend
And then there are GREAT people. There are people who want to make a name for themselves and there are people that want to change the lives of every person they come in contact with. There are people who love people and there are people who make great hermits.
I say that to say this… a friend of mine of the last three years is leaving the baltimore area and moving to atlanta. At my church he’s known as “Pastor P” but to his friend’s he’s known as just “P” or Tommy. He’s the kind of guy who doesn’t sugar coat anything he’s trying to tell you but he won’t break your spirit as he’s telling you. He’ll put truth in your life without judging you. He’s a great guy and his amazing singer wife and two ginger kids will be missed.

My conscience is clean but my life is filled with more judgmental people full of hate, anger, and bitterness than I ever could have imagined. I hope the overall look of this almost faceless picture satisfies the blood thirst of those who must know better than I, judging by the volume of their words. This is a sad day for my art and my craft. Am I supposed to pass judgement on my subjects? I’m not a god who knows better than all about the place of any person let alone myself. “Let he who has no sin cast the first stone” was intended for people who call themselves Christians to remind them that ALL have fallen short of God’s glory. It’s sad that new life could stir up so much pain and anger. God knows even the strands of hair of this child’s head.

Another excuse and a couple of shots
Where have the blog posts been you ask? Well, this weekend, in the period of these three holiday days off, I put a contract in for a house, got a counter offer, and accepted a contract for a house. I am grinning like an idiot!!! I’m going to be a bona fide home owner in about 5 weeks!!! So a lot has happened in three days.

My best friend got married this weekend! (and I shot a wedding I was in lol)
It’s true. I was the best man in my best friend craig’s wedding (to his lady Caroline) and it was totally fun. I also lead worship for them too. And too them to their first married movie! And played halo with them first as a married couple! Mwah hahahaha!!!
So yeah, they’re honeymooning in boston and I’m editing wedding pictures at home.

Yup. Like the metro stop to get to my compound for work. It’s a great area. If you’re into hookers and getting shot, that is. Anyways, these guys are local and played at the potomac youth convention this year and put on a good show. A little rough to start but the crowd warmed up quickly.

Who me? YES, I shoot events!!
Easy to forget sometimes that though I’m not the most people person (which is hilarious because even with my lightspeed thought patterns, I usually take EXTRA time in thinking of how to talk to people), I do LOVE to be in the mix of tons of people. Let me just start off by saying… I normally shoot events. Babies are something that I’m not used to shooting and really don’t interact with EVER. I have a lot of friends that have babies though and today, I got to meet the most awesome baby I’ve ever met. I even saw a baby gate fall on this little tyke and he just let out one cry and sucked it up… A TROOPER I TELL YOU!!!

I’ve been working hard :/
Between a ton of work at work (there’s some irony!) and these birthday pics I can’t post, I’ve been super busy. Will that stop me from being artistic and taking fun pics? HECK NO, TECHNO!

It’s straight out of camera minus some contrast adjustments. The vignetting is actually caused by the wide angle of the 11-16 Tokina, the low angle, and my Lumiquest Softbox III’ed SB600.

I shot at the Potomac Youth Convention again this year (third year in a row, eh?) and it was a blast as always minus this year’s venue being a little cramped.
I also shot at a sweet 16 party.
Those things said… after much internal deliberation and moral soul searching, something tells me the number of pictures I publish to my blog of this birthday party will be less than half a dozen. I’d explain but I don’t feel like I should in any other way than in person. Sorry :/

Da moon and iPhone envy…
So tonight’s blog it dedicated to two awesome things… my advancement as a photographer in shooting the moon (versus my attempt to years ago that ended in abject failure) AND the nifty place I live. Well, a view from where I live to where I used to live. lol. Yes, tonight’s post would have been a thousand times more interesting if I had taken pics of PG Trap and Skeet since I took my brother and broke in my new shotgun… And YES, it would have been awesome to shoot the chicken burrito bowl I got from chipotle… but instead, you get this!

So yes, continuing in my 2011 theme to get stocked up for the zombie-pacolypse (or more likely find new toys to try for trap shooting), I picked up a shotgun on the recommendation of my friend who sold me my Remmy 870 two years ago.
I picked up a Stoeger Condor in 12 gauge with 28″ barrel. It was under $400 out the door (well under) and looks like a beaut. I see extremely polarized opinions on the gun online so I’m hoping I got a good one. I haven’t cleaned it yet (to get rid of the packing grease) but I have until this saturday when I visit PG Trap and Skeet again.
Even if you don’t like guns, please, as always, enjoy the pictures… ENJOY

An app for the iphone that I LOVE!!
Okay… I have HUNDREDS of games on my iPhone (thanks FreeAppADay app! lol) but not ONE app has made me whip out my iphone and snap shots more than the stupid $2 app called Hipstomatic. WOW. It turns your iphone into a holga 120 but with INSTANT processing and square cropping. FUN FUN FUN.
That said, here are some shots from this weekend. I know they’re not my normal work but they are my normal perspective. (I was judging photography this weekend for two days at fine arts festival so my own photo projects are on hold. I do have some nifty new pics to process though!)
