It’s been five months…
Since I’ve posted anything on my blog here.
Granted I’ve been using my Facebook page to launch the LLC and incorporate getting my pictures out quicker to more people. I’ve gotten into dropbox to deliver client photos. I’ve traveled quite a bit. I still shoot as much as I can.
Boring writing, let’s get to the pictures!!!
I’m going to revamp my blog and my website soon. I’m so dark about my layouts and might to lighter… we’ll see.

So almost exactly 24 hours ago I got home from a week of SoCal sun in the warm of Desert Hot Springs (108* on sunday mind you).
I’ve been looking through the five memory cards worth of pics I took over the three days that I shot and I’m super stoked about this set, the collins set, and the terziu family sets as I work on them all to get them done.
Here’s a teaser from each! As always, ENJOY!!!!

Editing like a mad man!!
Hi hi
I have been working on a secret (a new website!!!) that I think I just spoiled lol.
I’ve also been editing pics like it’s my day job lol.
I’ve finished editing the first half of the 2012 Potomac Youth Ministries convention pics AND all of the prom pics for one of my kids at church.
I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed taking them!!!
I also wrote a new song this morning but I think it needs a chill bridge part; we’ll see.
Anyways, on to the pics

Sweet nothings…
*places the cone of shame on head*
I’ve had a half dozen shoots I could have written about in the last month but alas I’ve been uber tired. Anyone who works a full time job, gyms every night, volunteers a couple times a week, AND takes care of a house gets a HUGE hat tip from me. This is fun but busy stuff lol.
That said, here’s a teaser from today’s engagement shoot!! Congrats to Chrissy F. and Lamont B.
I can’t wait to shoot their wedding next year!!
As always, ENJOY!!!

One, two, three... AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!
That’s SOME love…
Love is like a tree.
It has rings that it grows that tells stories of its life. They say by reading the rings of a tree, you can see when it went through dry spells and when it went through easy times. When it had to be conservative and when it could flourish effortlessly.
It has branches that reach far from its roots to nourish and replenish that love. Like any great tree, it produces seeds that can grow into new trees.
Eventually if that love is healthy, you’ll have a yard full of trees.
These next few pictures are of a 50 year old love grown by the Pelletiers.
Definitely, as always, enjoy.

A celebration of 50 years of love...

Family and friends here to celebrate!

Some of the attendees of the original wedding were here that day

Proposing for the FIRST TIME EVER. Back in the day you just knew and got married.

A renewal of vows

A kiss

A dance

Being fruitful, they multiplied
Congratulations to the Pelletiers!!! May they have many, many more years of love to grow!!!
A couple of shots from this weekend. :)
I had never been to boordy winery before this weekend but it was a pretty awesome place. Great music, good friends, and fun times.
Here are a couple of shots I liked

Tyler on the bass

Akira and family

Nelly and his infamous echo

The inside of the beautiful boordy winery barn
As always, I hope you enjoyed the pics
Laziness? Ugh… just do it right.
Alrighty. So there was this picture:

Oh, hello lazy pic of josh
Yup. A LAZY headshot. Instead of getting fresh batteries for my background flashes, I just let it go half unbalanced grey. Instead of putting some basic gobos on the background flashes, I just shot anyways. It’s been a while since I had to use a lot of post to fix my mistakes but I did tonight.
Here is the same picture, done correctly:

Oh, I'm learning the same lesson a second time?
This is how life works sometimes. Sometimes we learn the same stupid lessons more than once. UGH. I should have fixed it when I noticed it when I was shooting instead of NOW. Let this be a lesson to my fellow photogs…
Love. 50 years in the making.
What if you married someone because you knew it was right… not because every one told you, you should?
What if you married someone you knew you’d love… even knowing love takes time?
What if you married someone you hadn’t proposed to… you just knew they’d be okay with that?
What if you waited 50 years to propose to the love of your life… only to already know the answer?
Congratulations to the Sherards and they’re 50th anniversary.
Here’s a sneak preview of the love I’ll be uploading next…

A proposal 50 years in the making...
Two bloggerific days in a row?! Rare form, indeed!!
I found three more personal loves from the Hounshell set that I had to share. There will be more from other sets coming soon.
Fun and fresh!
As always, enjoy!!!

Do you? Do you?

La Tigre?

The family that can post together... goes together!
And one more wide shot because I can’t count….

Awwwwwww
I’m not dead, I promise!
lol. heck of a title for a blog post eh? I can’t decide if I’ve been busy or lazy but something tells me having watched 6 seasons of How I met your mother in the last month might be the reason I haven’t had any free time
Back to work, right?
In the last month, I built a gun and filled a gun safe

The rifle (AR57, very nifty caliber)

The safe (which is merely an indicator that I need another one lol)
This past friday I did shoot a wedding though so I’m diligently working on finishing up four shoots right now
Here’s a teaser :

Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Hounshell!!!
More frequent blog posts to come! (like they should!!)
KISS!!!
Yes, KISS is both an acronym for “Keep It Simple, Stupid” AND it’s a critical moment when two people’s lips meet and say hello.
It’s also a filler blog post since I’m editing like a crazy person.
As always, ENJOY!!!

Personal Best of 2011
Yes, I’m up to my eyebrows in editing but it’s getting done as quickly as my little sausage fingers will carry me!!
I’ve been slacking on the posts and remembered some time around this time last year, I did a blog post on my favorite pictures that I took through the year. Tonight’s blog post is just that… a trip down 2011′s memory lane via my pictures
As always, ENJOY!!!

The Thiess'
I hope you enjoyed my 2011 as much as I did.
Up to my eyeballs in wedding pictures AND an answer for photographers who asked…
Yes, my eyes can only see pictures of the Thiess wedding. I eat, sleep, and dream them right now. lol.
I had a quick impromptu shoot this weekend when my best friend and his wife came into town though to break up my editing. I posted this picture on facebook:

The picture I posted to facebook....
and got a LOT of questions from fellow photogs on how I did this.
So on this rare occasion, I’m going to show you an UNEDITED, STRAIGHT-OUT-OF-CAMERA (SOOC) original of mine. Here we go…

SOOC
EXIF :
Nikon D7000 (manual mode of course)
1/320s
f/6.3
11mm
ISO 200
One off camera (right) SB600 @ 1/2 power manual mode
Cheapo yongnuo RF602 wireless system (which would sync to 1/400 with slight banding and 1/500 with half the frame banded)
Sun as key and hair second light.
11:00am-ish.
So as you can see from the SOOC and the FB posted pic, not toooooo much editing had to take place. I gave the original a bit more contrast by using an overlayed layer consisting of: the original image, duplicated, with high pass filter run, then desaturated, then overlay’ed to about 50%. It’s that easy.
The FINAL image I processed of it (BELOW) is how I like it and will print it. I just modified it slightly in Lightroom 3. A little desaturation, a smidge of sharpening, and a little curve boost for contrast.
If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask. I received all of my photographic learnings for free on the internet (and from a LOT of terribly butchered practicing) and I’m more than willing to give them away in the same manner
.
As always, ENJOY!!!

That's the way, uh huh, uh huh, I like it!!!
A teaser from the Thiess wedding and my end of the year blog report!!
So here’s the blog report: http://wallydyer.com/2011/annual-report/
I’m not sure if it’s really good or not but it looks okay to me lol.
And here is the teaser from the Alissa and George Thiess wedding… as always, ENJOY!!!!

Thiess wedding!!
Odd odds and statistics that hurt
AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH!!!!
*breathe*
As a photographer, every so often, you fail. One fails. And on a recent shoot, I feel like I failed. That said, here is ONE. ONE. O. N. E. One single picture that I liked besides the two preview shots I posted before.
As with all failure though, there is something to be learned. I feel like I did learn something but I’m constantly wondering if there wasn’t another lesson to be learned on top of that. Oy vey.
Words aside, here’s my abso-favorite shot.
As always, ENJOY!!!

The one and only like
Sles ‘n’ Lits!

Oh, hi there! Where have I been? GREAT question. I’ve been caught up in actually taking pictures so blog posts took a back seat for a minute. Kinda like a crackhead just getting his fix back, you can’t talk to him for a few minutes. Well, I got my camera back and I thought I’d show you what i’ve been doing for the last two and a half weeks.
I should mention, these will be the most RANDOM set of pictures you’ve ever seen. Maybe lol.
As always, ENJOY!!!

Two new pics from this weekend!
Ahhh, the smell of leather and cigarette butts! Gross right? Well without context, you might be right.
The first pic from this weekend is of my new leather couches. Real 100% leather. Not the bonded junk or the fake plastic type. Real italian leather. Thanks to my parents for this AWESOME house warming gift. (And thanks to my bro for the house warming/birthday gift TV in the background!!). That explains the smell of leather.
My second pic is of a frog outside of church… on top of one of those cigarette butt dumpers lol. He was still a very nice frog and stayed still even though I had my 50mm mounted backwards and was only a couple inches from his face.
As always… ENJOY!!!

Indeedily do. This weekend I attended my third wedding EVER as a guest (as opposed to being the prime shooter). Eh, I took my camera along anyways. You know me.
Anyways, congratulations to my friends Mike and Michelle Miller!! And…
As always, enjoy!!!
(weird sidenote: I processed all of these in black and white for the sake of my lack of control over the lighting… darn picky photogs!)
